Do You Tell the Truth in Your Email Advertising?

Before you sign your name at the bottom of an email and send it out to your list, are you telling any porkies that will damage your reputation?

Or maybe that doesn't worry you at all?

But it should...

I just received an email promoting this:
"How would you like to be able to get fresh themed content and instantly pull that content into your blog posts automatically?"

And... best of all..
"... you can get it all for just $1 right now."

Since I DO use lots of RSS feeds on my sites - both create them for others to use, and also borrow them from other sites to make content - then ANY news about how to include RSS in my web site certainly interests me.

You can imagine how ticked off I was when I got to the meat of the sales page...

"Apply for your 7 day trial membership and get unlimited content feeds for a measly $1 along with bonuses.

If, after your full 7 day trial, you decide you want to remain part of our service, then your cost will be only $59 a month.
"

Where's the truth in advertising here?

What harm has this person done to their reputation?

$59 a month? As if!

I've certainly unsubscribed from that list, and don't want ANYTHING else to do with it!

If something like this was advertised "normally" (i.e. print or TV) here in Australia, I'd say the Department of Consumer Affairs would be onto them in a shot!

And rightly so!

Stop this crap from flooding your inbox!

TELL the person why you are unhappy and un-subscribing from their list!
